c.a.p. off your day

“Cap off the day”: to finish the day with a specific activity, often one that is a memorable or positive conclusion.

Ending your day with positivity can help boost your mood, cultivate positive emotions, increase hope and optimism, help improve sleep, contribute towards a growth mindset, and help set the tone for tomorrow. One method I use to end each day is using the C.A.P. method. It takes just a few minutes and acts as a powerful reminder of the value of each day:

C = Celebrate, even the tiniest win of the day. Did you clean up your emails? Resist doomscrolling on your phone? Read a few pages of a book? Complete a task you’ve been putting off? Make time to get outside for a walk? Celebrate it!

A = Appreciate something or someone. Gratitude is both a social and relationship strengthening practice. It will shift your attention from what’s missing in your life to who and what is meaningful in it. Express your gratitude towards a person, a moment that brought you joy, or a feeling you had today.

P = Prioritize 1 thing tomorrow that future you will thank today you for. This will give your brain a clear path for the day and also help build momentum around other tasks that will inevitably pop up. This doesn’t necessarily have to be work related, either. It could be practicing self care, making time for a hobby, spending quality time with a loved one…

How do you end your day?
