habits for the second half of 2025

As we move towards the second half of 2025, I’ve been thinking about the role of habits; both those consistent actions we’ve taken since the beginning of the year and those we may want to start implementing or make habitual now. The second half of the year is a great time to reset and refocus on daily habits that will help get you closer to your goals before the end of the year.

Here are 5 daily habits that have made a difference for me and might do the same for you:

1. 10 Minutes of Intentional Planning: Take 10 minutes each morning to plan your day, prioritizing 3 tasks or objectives that need to get done before the end of the day or week. Do these align with your short- or long-term goals?

2. Weekly Reflection on Sundays: Spend 15 minutes in the evening reviewing your week. These are the questions I ask myself (feel free to use them, too):

What were the highlights?
What were the challenges (and what did I learn from them)?
What am I proud of this week?
Did I stay aligned with my goals (and did my habits help)?
Where did I spend my time and energy? Did these things (or people) energize or drain me?
What am I avoiding and why?
What’s one thing I want to do differently next week or improve upon?
What am I grateful for this week?

3. The 2-Minute Rule: If something takes less than 2 minutes, do it right now! This will help build momentum and curb procrastination. It will also help with feelings of overwhelm and stress when things (even the little things) add up.

4. 30 Minutes of Learning or Professional Development a Day: It’s easy to turn on the tv or refer to our phone when we want a break or enjoy some downtime, but what if we dedicated 30 minutes a day to reading, listening to a podcast, or taking a workshop/course? 30 minutes a day equals 10,950 hours a year! What new skill do you want to develop?

5. More Digital Wellness: Start tracking your screen time and set alerts on apps to regularly schedule downtime away from your phone. I’m turning off my phone at least two hours before bed and switching to my bedtime routine to help wind down (reading, journaling, mediation). You might even want to ask yourself a shorter version of your weekly reflection questions.

What habit helps keep you motivated or moves you closer towards your goals? What new habits do you want to develop before the year ends?
