Do one thing you love every day!
Sometimes it can feel like maintaining a healthy lifestyle, practicing self care, and working to achieve work-life balance is an overwhelming challenge that doesn’t fit within the realities of daily life. It can be difficult meeting the responsibilities of a job, maintaining a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, exercising daily, spending quality time with your family/partner/kids/pets, and practicing gratitude and mindfulness....all within a 24-hour day!
So much of healthy living is really made up of small things we do daily; things that are so small they don’t feel momentous, but that, when practiced habitually over time, add up to help you feel more balanced, fulfilled, mindful and happier.
Incorporating one thing a day you love will result in:
1.) Your feeling more happy, fulfilled and motivated - Doing things you love will make you happy and that happiness will radiate in other aspects of your life.
2.) Improved Health - You’ve probably heard that laughter is the best medicine. Happiness and laughter offer a tremendous number of health benefits. Laughter relaxes your body, reduces stress, and boosts your immune system. Doing something that you love every day will increase your happiness – which can lead to overall improved health. A good laugh can help to relieve physical tension and stress and leave your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes afterwards.
3.) Increased Productivity - When you have something to look forward to every day, you will be more motivated to complete your tasks and deadlines on time. Think of it as a built in reward, keeping you on track and working towards your goals.
4.) Build and Sustain Strong Relationships - When we prioritize doing things that make us happy we restore depleted energy (spent working, commuting, etc). When we restore our energy we’re able to spend more time and energy on others. Being able to take a genuine interest in others can lead to stronger relationships. When doing things that you enjoy, why not invite a friend or loved one to do the activity with you? This can be a great way to connect and will allow you to accomplish two things at once – developing relationships while finishing things that are important to you.
What are some things you enjoy doing during the work week/weekend to help increase your happiness and restore your energy?
